“Hang on, Dayton!”

That’s the message sent out to all Daytonians as 31 members of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra recorded a virtual performance of “Hang On, Sloopy”. This song has been the state rock song for the state of Ohio since the 116th Ohio General Assembly made it official in 1985. And it’s message gives us fitting words to remember now. “Sloopy” struck me as THE perfect piece for us to play…..to put some pep in your step, a smile on your face, some lightness in your heart, and some hope in your spirit. Sure, things are tough. But Sloopy had it tougher!” said DPO conductor Neal Gittleman.
