Youth Orchestras Perform Fall Concerts
The Dayton Philharmonic youth orchestras have kept up a busy rehearsal schedule even with the many disruptions of COVID. The results of their hard work can now be enjoyed by us in a virtual, prerecorded format.
Q the Music, a daily after-school orchestra program for students in grades 3-5 at Ruskin Elementary, has scheduled a recital via Zoom featuring student solo performances. It will be broadcast live on Sunday, December 13 at 3:30 p.m. on the Q the Music Facebook page. To enjoy the performances, click here.
Both the Dayton Philharmonic Junior Strings and the Dayton Philharmonic Youth Strings have recorded their fall performances. DPJS is a training orchestra for young players who want an ensemble in which to improve their skills.
DPYS is an advanced ensemble for string players in grade 6-12. Their repertoire is comprised of more challenging string literature. Concerts by both groups can be enjoyed on the DPAA YouTube channel.
Unfortunately, the Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra was unable to complete a recording of their winter performance before the most recent shutdown occurred.
We hope 2021 will bring the opportunity for us all to listen once again to performances by all of these dedicated young musicians!
