Brandon Patrick George Steps into the Solo Spotlight

What an exciting update to pass along on the professional career of Brandon Patrick George!  Brandon was last highlighted in a September article of DPVA Q-Notes.  He is a Dayton area native, former member of the Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and former student of local flutist Virginia Miller.  His professional career took off when he became a member of the prestigious Imani Winds quintet, and now he is releasing his debut solo recording.

DPYO conductor Patrick Reynolds remembers Brandon as “an exceptionally talented young musician, motivated and hardworking.”  His talent and passion for music were evident very early on.  “I suspect that everyone who encountered Brandon, even at that time, knew he was destined for something special.”

The New York Times published a profile of Brandon last week. The article highlights Brandon’s early role models, his professional development and his thoughtful perspective about the selection of composers and works for the album, making a case for the flute as a great solo instrument.  Read the entire New York Times article at https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/13/arts/music/brandon-patrick-george-flute.html

Bravo to Brandon on work well done!  We look forward to more news of his future successes!
