Our 2009 Designers' Show House & Gardens has now come to a close.  We want to  thank those of you who came, who participated, and who made this project a wonderful success in support of music in our community!

The landscapers and designers gave us the palette for us to provide the "fun"draising.  You came and browsed in our Daisy's Gifts Boutique and helped us to raise significant funds as a result.

You enjoyed a delicious lunches in our Le Petit Cafe and even on the rainiest, very wet days, our cafe managers and staff were able to pull off a great experience at the end of the tour and raise additional funds.

cafe_posterSMALL_1_1There were opportunities for everyone – you came and attended the many

special events and daily programs

that were scheduled for your enjoyment.

This is our largest fundraiser and only happens every two years.  Proceeds from the Show House support music education programs to Miami Valley school children, provide music scholarships for area students and benefit the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra.  Thanks for joining in the fun.  Your participation has made great thing happen for music education in our community.

DPVA wins LAO National Volunteer Gold Award!

The Dayton Philharmonic Volunteer Association's Young People's Concert Previews were named a Gold Award winner by the League of American Orchestras.  The award will be presented to the DPVA at the League's annual convention June 9-12 in Chicago IL.

Rave reviews from elementary school teachers in an 8 county area prompted the DPVA to submit the Young People's Concert Preview Program for national award consideration.  These highly visual presentations quickly capture the attention of the over 50,000 elementary school children in 180 schools that view one of these presentations prior to attending a Young People's Concert.

Marcia Wood and Richard Hulsman, two members of the DPVA, head the award winning team.  The team is being recognized for its well written concert preview scripts and their animated electronic presentations complete with embedded sound files.

The League of American Orchestras leads, encourages and supports America's orchestras. It also communicates to the public the value and importance of orchestras and the music they perform.  Annually the League recognizes outstanding educational programs across the nation through its Gold Award.
